Tax Investigations

It is a known fact that the government has instructed HM Revenue and Customs to carry out more tax investigations into individuals, businesses and companies.

HMRC are entitled to make investigations into personal and company tax returns without necessarily giving a reason for doing so.

There are two levels of investigation, those dealing with one or more 'aspects' of the return for example motor expenses claims and 'full investigations' where the return is looked at in some depth and all records are requested for examination.

Investigations can be protracted and complicated affairs, including attending meetings, dealing with technical questions and negotiating settlements and it is important to have the right professional help from the outset. This is partially due to the procedures which HMRC are required to follow.

For a modest annual premium we offer all clients insurance to cover against the professional costs in dealing with an enquiry, in order that our clients can benefit from the peace of mind of professional representation without the associated costs.
